We try to post our hikes well in advance so you can plan your weekends, organise lifts, and decide which adventures you want to join.
Depending on the type of hike, the registration timelines work a little differently.

When Does Registration Open?

Local Hikes Open 2 weeks before the hike at 15:00

Pre-Paid Day Hikes Open 4 weeks before the hike at 15:00

Pre-Paid Overnight Hikes Open as soon as the hike is posted – sometimes up to 1 year in advance

We will announce on the AMF WhatsApp group when Overnight Hikes are posted.

When Does Registration Close?

Local Hikes Closes 2 days before the hike at 23:00

Pre-Paid Day Hikes Closes 4 days before the hike at 23:00

Pre-Paid Overnight Hikes Closes 1 week before the hike at 23:00

What Must I Do When I Register on Meetup?

1. Provide your contact details when RSVP’ing — unless we already have them.

2. If you forget to enter them, send your WhatsApp number to an organiser directly.

3. If Sole Mates does not have your contact details, you will be removed from the hike for safety reasons.

4. If your plans change, update your Meetup status immediately.

Payment — When and What Must I Pay?

1. Make payment within 48 hours

2. Email your Proof of Payment (POP) to accounts@sole-mates.co.za

3. If your plans change, update your Meetup status

4. If the cancellation is after the registration deadline, please also post in the hike-specific WhatsApp group

Important:

If payment or POP is not received within 48 hours, and no alternative arrangement is made, you will be automatically removed from the “Going” list.

Late cancellations follow the rules in the Late Cancellations, No Shows & Priority policy.

Waiting Lists & Priority

If a hike fills up before the registration deadline:

• Add yourself to the waiting list

• Meetup records your date and time of joining the list

• Spots will be offered in that order before the registration deadline

After the Registration Deadline

If a spot opens up, Active Members get priority movement from the waiting list.

Contact Details Matter

If we do not have your WhatsApp contact details, we will skip you on the waiting list — we must be able to reach you quickly.

Sole Mates reserves the right to adjust this process if needed to keep our hikes safe, organised, and fair.
